“Emissões de Lagos e Reservatórios”

The Remote Sensing Division (DSR) in the National Institute for Space Research (INPE),Sao Paulo-Brazil is using the Centre’s models to model the hydroelectric reservoirs located at the Brazilian Savanna and Amazon region. The use of the models allowed them to study and understand the physical response of Brazilian hydroelectric reservoirs under the influence of meteorological events (e.g., cold front passages and mesoscale convective systems). The next step of the research to be conducted will be to couple the ELCOM-CAEDYM models to investigate the impacts of meteorological events and climate variability on the greenhouse gas emissions from hydroelectric reservoirs.
